Leslie N. Nemeth

Leslie N. Nemeth, 80, of Brookfield Street, South Bend, IN, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 16, 2001, after a long illness. Mr. Nemeth was born on March 6, 1921, in Elkhart, IN, to the late Ludislaus and Mary (Nemeth) Nemeth and lived in South Bend all his life. He retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation as an Engineer at Marquette School and had previously been employed with the former Studebaker Corporation.

 

On May 30, 1942, Leslie married Elvira Gubi, who survives. Surviving with his wife of 59 years are two daughters, Sharon (James) Jud of Niles, MI, Linda (Frank) Bennett of Duke, MO; a son, Leslie F. (Linda) Nemeth of South Bend; five grandchildren, Leslie Lipowski of South Bend, Jody Nyikos of Niles, MI, Lee Lipowski of Angola, IN, Nicole Nemeth of South Bend and Brianna Nemeth of South Bend; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Nyikos and Courtney Lipowski; and a brother John (Joan) Nemeth of Lions, IN. Four sisters, Mary Ozdyck, Julia Vargo, Josephine Nemeth, Elizabeth Kraft, and a brother, Joseph Nemeth all preceded him in death.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2001, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2001, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. Mr. Nemeth was a member of Corpus Christi Parish. Memorial contributions may be made to Logan Community Resources, Inc.
