John Andrew Newcomb

August 2, 1875 – February 19, 1948

 

John Andrew Newcomb, aged 72, of 928 Clover Street, died at 1:40pm Thursday in Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks.

 

He was born in Vincennes IN August 2, 1875, and came here 40 years ago from that city.  On November 15, 1898, in Vincennes, he married Miss Nellie Rawlings, who survives.  Mr. Newcomb was an inspector for the South Bend Lathe Works.

 

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. R. L. Waterman and Mrs. J. L. Cissell, both of South Bend, and Mrs. H. W. Snyder, of Elkhart IN; three sisters, Miss Grace Newcomb, of South Bend; Mrs. Earl Duley, of Terre Haute IN, Mrs. Alta Covey, of Evansville IN; and two brothers, Frank & Samuel, both of Evansville.

 

Friends may call in the Orvis Funeral Home until the services there at 2:30pm Saturday.  Rev. Carl C. Bosse, pastor of River Park Methodist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.  Mrs. Newcomb was a member of the Royal Arcanum.
