South Bend Tribune 7/6/2005
SOUTH BEND - Sylvia E. Nicodemus, 90, passed away Thursday in Regency Place and Rehabilitation. Sylvia was born in London, England, to the late Arthur and Sylvia Price. She enjoyed spending her youth in England and especially enjoyed London's city life and beautiful parks. She worked as a hair model and even spent time working at the famed Harrod's Department Store. Her dreams of art school faded as WWII's blitz destroyed parts of her beloved city. It was then that she met an American GI.

In 1946 she sailed the Atlantic Ocean to marry that GI, James Alexander Nicodemus. They made their home in South Bend, Indiana, where they raised two children. She spent her time as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother dispensing her great wisdom, sprinkled with bits of wit. She also continued perfecting her artistic skills until the very end. Sylvia is survived by a daughter, Diana Price-Jaworski and her husband, Ron of South Bend; a son, Philip J. Nicodemus of South Bend; four grandchildren, Jackie (Randy) Jones, Jennifer (Brad) Little, James (Shawna) Nicodemus and Rebecca Nicodemus; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ashley, Amelia and Anthony; a sister, Christine of London, England; and a brother, Phillip Price of London, England.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, July 7, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Pastor Mark Rydzinski officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. until the time of services on Monday, July 7. Cremation will follow. In loving memory of Sylvia, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
