Mary H. Niezgodski (Aug. 27, 1920 - Jan. 21, 2007).

SOUTH BEND - Mary Helen Niezgodski, 86 passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007, in her residence.

 

Mary was born on August 27, 1920, in South Bend, to Emery and Anna (Nemes) Nagy. On July 22, 1943, as Mary Nagy, she married Norbert Niezgodski. He died on August 6, 1982. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Deak and Irene Niedosik.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Diane Marie Niezgodski of Las Vegas, NV; three granddaughters, Lindsey Diamond Griggs and Shannan Tiffany Griggs, both of Las Vegas, and Alana Chelsea Griggs of Venice Beach, CA; four brothers, Joseph (Rose) Nagy of Florida, Emery Nagy of Mishawaka, Vincent Nagy and Francis “Toby” Nagy, both of South Bend; her godson, Joseph Nagy of South Bend; goddaughter, Stacey Nagy of Indianapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family. She was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2007, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 2-6 Sunday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

SOUTH BEND - Mary Helen Niezgodski, 86, died Sunday, Jan. 21, in her home. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Marie Niezgodski of Las Vegas; granddaughters, Lindsey D. Griggs, Alana C. Griggs and Shannan T. Griggs; brothers, Joseph (Rose) Nagy of Florida, Emery Nagy of Mishawaka, Vincent Nagy and Francis "Toby" Nagy, both of South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Zahoran Funeral Home.
