MISHAWAKA – Elmo F. Nix, 55, of 151 W. Marion Street, an employee of the Mishawaka post office for the last 33 years, was dead on arrival in the city ambulance at St. Joseph Hospital about 3:35 p.m. Sunday. He was born on Jan. 29, 1915, in Mishawaka and had lived here all his life.

 

On Nov. 27, 1943, in Mishawaka, he married the former Elizabeth Gleissner, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Pvt. Richard T. Nix with the US Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and two daughters, Carol Ann, an Indiana University student and Diane, both at home.

 

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. William J. Gieranowski, pastor, officiating, and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Mr. Nix was a member of St. Monica’s Church and a veteran of World War II with the US Army. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Memorials made be made to the St. Joseph Hospital expansion fund.
