Sister M. Agnestina CSC, 83, of Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in South Bend, died there Friday evening. Born Agnes Elizabeth Nix on Feb. 13, 1894 in Huntington, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on March 25, 1915 coming from Huntington. She was received as a novice on Aug. 6, 1915 and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1917. A regestered nurse, she was assigned to health care facilities operated by the Holy Cross Sisters, serving at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, and the students infirmary at the University of Notre Dame. She also served at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City and Our Saviour’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill.

 

Friends may call todayin the convent where a wake service will be at 7:15 p.m. today. The body will be transferred to St. Mary’s Convent, for services at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.
