Brother George Noakes CSC

Brother George Noakes, CSC, 61, of Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, died at 10 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Medical Center after a short illness. He was born on Sept. 29, 1919 in London, England, and came to the United States in 1954. He entered the Congregation of the Holy Cross on Aug. 15, 1955, professing perpetual vows on Aug. 16, 1959. He was assigned to the province development office at Notre Dam from 1956 to 1961. From 1961 to 1980, he served at Notre Dame College, Dacca, Bangladesh. For the past six months, he had assisted the Overseas Missions Coordinator. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. V. Cassidy of England.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, on the University of Notre Dame campus. Bishop Alfred Mendez, CSC, of Texas, will officiate. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Moreau Seminary Chapel, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
