Alexander Nowacki

October 7, 1906 – May 7, 1972

Alexander Nowacki, 65, of 720 E. Angela Blvd., died at 2:50pm Sunday in St Joseph’s Hospital after an illness of three months.  He was a meat cutter and the former owner and operator of Al’s Food Market, 1049 N. College Street.  He had been employed at Ben’s Superette seven years.

He was born on October 7, 1906 in South Bend and had lived here all of his life.  On November 20, 1928, he married Regina Sikorski, who survives, along with three daughters, Mrs. Joan Kaniewski and Mrs. Elaine Miller, both of South Bend, and Mrs. Barbara Gabey of Oyster Bay NY; nine grandchildren; a brother, Casimir of Vergas MN; and a sister, Mrs. Stella Schultz of Temple Terrace FL.

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today and 2 to 9pm Tuesday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home.  Services will be held at 10am Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Notre Dame, Rev. Joseph C. Fey, C.S.C., pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery.  A rosary will be recited at 7:30pm today by Rev. John Lubbers, C.S.C., and a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Tuesday by Father Fey, both in the funeral home.
