Leo C. Nowicki

Leo C. Nowicki, 89, passed away at 8:20pm on Saturday, August 23, in the Healthwin Nursing Home.

Leo was born on November 10, 1912, in South Bend IN, to Valentine & Lottie (Kaminski) Nowicki, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Irvin Nowicki.

On May 29, 1935, Leo married Anna Meuleman in the Sacred Heart Church of South Bend.  She survives, Leo is also survived by five daughters, Mary Ann (Michael) Rafalski of South Bend, Virginia (Ralph) Bartels of Osceola IN, Geraldine (Thomas) Sternal and Catherine Nowicki of Fort Wayne IN, and Betty (Leroy) Skodinski of Federal Way WA; a sister, Lottie Kalicki of South Bend; two brothers, Edmund “Spike” Nowicki of South Bend and Casimir Nowicki of Edwardsburg MI; a close family friend, Harriet Rumschlag; and by 11 grandchildren, including a very special granddaughter, Sheryl Sternal, 29 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

Leo was employed by M.B.Skinner as a machinist and retired after 35 years.  He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and of the Ushers Society there.  He was also a leader of the Holy Family Harvest House for 17 years and a former teacher at Forever Learning.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8pm today, August 27, in the St Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road.  Funeral services will be held in Holy Family Catholic Church at 10am on Wednesday, August 28, with burial at St Joseph Cemetery.
