Wakarusa – Ira (Jack) Null, 90, of Cedar Road, in Madison Township, St. Joseph County, IN Rt. 1. Died this morning at Elkhart Hospital, where he had been a patient three weeks. He had been ill one year.

 

He was born in Harrison Township, Elkhart County, on Aug 12, 1881, and was a farmer. He was a member of Holdeman Mennonite Church.

 

At the age of 16 he began working with the Wakarusa Telephone Exchange and later worked as a lineman trouble shooter and night operator. When the telephone exchange was sold, Null moved to his farm on Cedar Road. He had been an assessor for Madison Township about 20 years.

 

He was married to Ida Mae Hahn and she survives with three children, Mrs. Sam (Marjorie L.) Yoder, Goshen, Carl J., Wakarusa, and Mrs. Gibson (Marian M.) Scott, Nappenee; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers Warren and Ben, both of Wakarusa, and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Golba) Hehr, Wakarusa.

 

Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the Lienhart Funeral Home, where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The Revs. Willard Conrad and Bill Lincoln will officiate, and burial will be in Olive (West) Cemetery.
