WALKERTON - Ella Irene Nusbaum, 82, of 505 VanBuren St., died at 2:39 p.m. Monday in LaPorte Hospital after an illness. Mrs. Nusbaum and her husband were the owners/operators of Nusbaum Funeral Home until retiring in 1967. She was born Oct. 25, 1913, in Rolette, N.D., and lived in Walkerton since 1928.

On Sept. 1, 1935, in Walkerton, as Ella I. Anderson, she married Ray A. Nusbaum. He died Feb. 8, 1978. She is survived by three sons, Michael R. of Fort Wayne, Roger A. of Valparaiso and James W. of Eclectic, Ala.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Juanita Manges of Wilcox, Ariz., and Joyce Dominiac and Darlene Archbold, both of Walkerton; and three brothers, Elvie White of Walkerton, Dale White of Side Lake, Minn., and Elmer White of Puposky, Minn. She was a member of Walkerton United Methodist Church, Walkerton Chapter 319 Order of Eastern Star, and American Legion Post 189 Auxiliary.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to LaPorte Hospital Foundation or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
