Felix Nyczak

Felix Nyczak, 80, of South Brookfield, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, in his residence. He was born on Nov. 24, 1922, in Bedkovo, Poland, to Michal and Konstencja (Michalak) Nyczak, who preceded him in death.  On Aug. 18, 1946, in Germany, he married Irene Kabat. Felix is survived by his wife, Irene; two daughters, Sophie (Cliff) Oberg of Osceola, Ind., and Mary Ellen (Fred) Bollman of South Bend, Ind.; a son, Walter (Cathy) Nyczak of Mishawaka, Ind.; grandchildren, Tammy (Otto) Hartl of Worth, Ill., Debbie (Rob) Vargo of Granger, Ind., Daniel Oberg of South Bend, Jeffrey and Valerie Nyczak of Mishawaka, Dawn (Ron) Simpson, of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Megan Bollman of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Tiffany, Amanda, Heather, Gabrielle, Theresa, Otto, Benjamin, Tyler, Hailey, Christopher and Veronica; and by a brother, Leon, and a sister, Valentina, in Poland.

 

He served in the Royal British Airforce, Polish Division in Germany, and retired from Mastic Corporation in 1988 after 35 years. In 1951 he came to the United States, and in March 1953 he settled in South Bend. He enjoyed ushering at Notre Dame games and events. He ushered at his church, St. Adalbert's, and was a member of the former Hallers Post.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice or to St. Adalbert Church.
