Esther K. Nye

Esther Klaer Nye died on Saturday at the age of 103. Mrs. Nye had been a long-time resident of South Bend but recently lived at Traditions at Beth Road, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
She was born in Mishawaka on August 14, 1898, and was married on January 28, 1924 to David "Dan" A. Nye who died in 1970. Mrs. Nye was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Klaer, and her sister, Helen Brady. She is survived by nieces, Nedra (Carl) Bullock of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Judith (Joseph) Sereno of Stow, Ohio.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, South Bend County Club, Indian Creek Country Club of Miami, Florida, Indiana Club, Women's Art League, Hoosier Art Patron's Association, Christ Child Society, Indiana Bridge Group, Snite Museum, Women's Association of South Bend Symphony, South Bend Art Museum, Friends of Notre Dame Library, Northern Indiana Historical Society, and the Elk's Club.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend. Interment will follow the services at St. Joseph Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McGann Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
