MISHAWAKA - Patricia Ann (Freeman) O'Brien, 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29th. Pat was born on December 18, 1937, in Galesburg, IL, to the late Clara and John Freeman. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert, her daughter, Sheryl, and by a sister, Barbara Freeman. On November 12, 1955, she married William M. O'Brien Jr., who survives along with their five children, William (Dale) O'Brien III of San Antonio, TX, Steven (Debbie) O'Brien of Melbourne, FL, James O'Brien of Mishawaka, Laura (David) Belt of Dayton, OH, and Christine (Eugene) Knapp of Mishawaka; her eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Peter, Anastasia, Kara, David, Virginia and Alyssa; her great-grandchild, Conrad; and a brother, Michael Freeman of Pekin, IL. Pat held various clerical positions including serving many years as the school secretary at LaSalle Elementary in Mishawaka. Pat loved gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and she was an avid Notre Dame football fan. The family would like to thank the St. Joseph County Hospice for all of their services and support in the last period of Pat's life. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior on Wednesday, February 3, in St. Monica Catholic Church, with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
