Sr. Margaret O'Connell CSC

(Sister M. Placide) CSC -->(Sister M. Placide) CSC Jan. 22, 1913 - Mar. 31, 2009 SOUTH BEND - Sister Margaret O'Connell (Sister M. Placide) CSC, was bon in New York City, New York, to the late Jeremiah and Nora Murphy O'Connell. She is survived by nieces, Lois Gallagher, Dorothy Wilke, Ann Holtzclaw; nephew, Daniel Aug, and many cousins. Before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Sister was a telephone operator for the New York Company. After entering the Congregation in 1933, Sister was housekeeper and cook in school convents in the East. After graduation from Dunbarton College, Washington, D.C., she was a teacher in various elementary schools in the East, did catechetical work in New Mexico and retired in 1996 to Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN, where she was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Reception of the body and wake will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, IN. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
