Patty Faye O'Connor, 68, of Berkley Place, South Bend, Ind., died following an extended illness at 1:24 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, in her residence.

Mrs. O'Connor was born Nov. 9, 1933, in Calleo, Mo., to the late John Raymond and Maggie (Roberts) Lucas, and had lived in South Bend most of her life. She was raised from infancy by her late aunt and uncle, Luther and Alma Roberts.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John J. O'Connor; a daughter, Jill (David) Hoffman of Osceola, Ind.; two grandchildren, Tammy Hoffman of Mishawaka, Ind., and David Hoffman Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by three sisters, Norma Janczak of Mishawaka, Alpha Dean Hatch of Marine City, Mich., and Barbara Baker of Brookfield, Mo.

Mrs. O'Connor was a member of Community Baptist Church of South Bend, and had been active as a volunteer for the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and the American Red Cross in the past.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in the Community Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bud Steadman officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 6, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street.
