Sister M. William J. O'Connor CSC

Sister William Joseph, CSC, (Mary Agnes O'Connor), 94, was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late David and Nellie O'Leary O'Connor. She was one of nine children, eight of whom predeceased her. Sister is survived by nieces, Maryellen (Charles) Swangren, Therese (James) Lahart, Rita (Ronald) Kribs, all of Illinois, and Kathleen (Herb) Wood, Washington, DC; nephew, William Gordon, Chicago IL; and many friends.

 

Before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Sister William Joseph held a position as a stenographer after completing a commercial course at Lindblom High School. After entering the congregation she was trained as an elementary school teacher and taught 52 years in schools in the Midwest, ending her career in the schoolroom as secretary, office assistant and librarian at St. Thomas the Apostle School, Elkhart IN. In 1988, Sister came to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, IN, where she was part of the volunteer service to the community and was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

Funeral Service: Thursday, February 16, 2006, 10:30 a.m., Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
