Services for Brother John A. O’Flaherty CSC, 83, who died at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dujarie House, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Chapel at Holy Cross Brothers Center, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at the Brothers Center. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Brothers Center Chapel, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m.

 

He was born March 17, 1904 in Hartford, Conn. He became a novice Aug. 15, 1949, and professed his vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross on Aug. 16, 1950. Before entering the congregation he was an underwriter for the Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Co., and from 1934 to 1947 was employed by the US Treasury Department, and the US Department of Commerce. He served at Notre Dame as assistant to the provincial treasurer; advertising manager of the Ave Maria and Today magazines; secretary in the vocations office, and retired to Dujarie House in 1982.
