SOUTH BEND - Bart Ray Oglesby, 60, of South Bend, passed away in his residence on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, following a long illness. Bart was born November 3, 1948, in Herrin, Illinois, to the late John Osborn and Alma Elizabeth (Earl) Oglesby. In November 2001, Bart married his wife, Sharon Taylor, in South Bend. Sharon survives along with three children, Leyla Marie Oglesby of Chicago, Illinois, Jason (Heather) Reynolds of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Casey (Tracy) Reynolds of South Bend. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Megan and Sydney Reynolds, as well as Bart's brother, Alan (Judy) Oglesby of LaPorte, Indiana, and his sisters, Ardis (Dwaine) Conard of Bloomington, Indiana, and Gayle (Kevin) Johnston of South Bend. Bart was preceded in death by his infant sister, Cathy Lynn Oglesby. Bart served his country with the U.S. Navy for 20 years, serving as an instructor and sonar technician until his retirement from active duty in 1995. Bart loved music, and had played the guitar since around age 12, and most recently played in the band "Money and Fame." His hobbies also included woodworking and fishing. He and his wife Sharon also bought and sold collectable antiques for many years.

 

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. today, November 18, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Indiana. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ed Erskine at Chapel Hill Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, with military rites following the service, and interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
