Sister M. Evangela CSC, died Thursday noon in Saint Mary’s Convent after an extended illness. She was born Gertrude O’Loughton in Seneca, Ill. She entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1905; received the holy habit in 1906; and made her profession of final vows in 1911. During her community life she was stationed at St. Mary’s Academy and St. Joseph Academy in South Bend; in Alexandria, Va.; Washington DC; and Austin, Tex.; and for the last several years has been at St. Mary’s Convent. Survivors include a twin sister, Sister M. Evangelista CSC, of Saint Mary’s Convent.

 

A requiem high mass will be held in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, at St. Mary’s, at 7 a.m. Saturday, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery there. Friends may call in the convent parlor.
