Sister M. Evangelista O’Loughton CSC, 91, of St. Mary’s Convent died Monday afternoon in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, after a lengthy illness. She was born April 5, 1887 in Seneca, Ill. As Genevieve O’Loughton she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on July 5, 1905; was accepted as a novice Aug. 15, 1916, and made her final profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1908. She spent most of her community life as a teacher and high school principal, serving at the former St. Joseph Academy and St. Mary’s Academy, as well as high schools in Virginia, Washington DC, Texas and Illinois. She was preceded in death by a twin sister, Sister Evangel CSC.

 

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may after 4 p.m. today in the convent parlors, where a wake services will be at 7 p.m.
