Mrs. Rheme Ireland Omundsen

September 6, 1892March 20, 1974

 

Mrs. Rheme Ireland Omundsen, 82, of the Cardinal Nursing Home, died at 4:25pm Wednesday in the nursing home after a seven month illness.  She had worked in the Barrett Law section of the county treasurer’s office, had been a clerk for the South Bend Police Department and a Portage Manor employee and had been active in the Democratic Party.

 

Born September 6, 1892, in South Ben, she had lived here all her life. On November 13, 1915, in South Bend, she was married to Louis Omundsen, who died in 1935.

 

Surviving are a grandson, Larry Omundsen of South Bend, and two nieces, Mrs. John Hager of South Bend and Mrs. Herbert Allison of Maplewood NJ.

 

Friends may call form 7 to 9pm today and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N William St.  Services will be at 11am Saturday in the funeral home. Rev. Walter Hand, interim pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.  She was a life member of the First Baptist Church, the Business and Professional Women’s Organization and Senior Citizens.
