Rev. Joseph Edward O’Neill CSC, 71, of Chicago, formerly of South Bend died Friday in Chicago. He was born in Hyde Park, Mass. He made his first vows on Aug. 16, 1942, and was ordained on June 2, 1948. He served as principal of Notre Dames High School, Niles, Ill.; St. Edward’s High School, Elgin, Ill., and Bourgade High School, Phoenix, Ariz. He also served as assistant dean of students at DePaul University. He was assistant supervisor at Holy Cross Center in Berkley, Calif.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame, with burial in Community Cemetery. A wake service will be today at 7:30 p.m. in Moreau Seminary.
