Rev. J. Regis O’Neil CSC, 77, died early today in Holy Cross House at Notre Dame, after a lengthy illness. He entered the Holy Cross Seminary at Notre Dame in 1923 and professed his vows in 1927. He was born May 10, 1908 in East Palestine, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1931, the studied theology at Holy Cross College, Washington DC, and was ordained to the priesthood in Sacred Heart Church at Notre Dame in 1935. He did post-graduate studies in Religious education at Catholic University, Washington DC. From 1936 to 1942 he taught at Notre Dame. From 1942 to 1952 he was on the Holy  Cross Mission Band at Notre Dame. He taught at Holy Cross College, Washington DC from 1952 to 1961 and the was on the Mission Band until 1967, when he resided at Holy Cross House.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Holy Cross Community Cemetery, on the campus. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Moreau Seminary, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.
