Paul Oprea

Oct. 11, 1915 - March 19, 1998

SOUTH BEND - Paul ''Pete'' Oprea, 82, of Prescott Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died on Thursday, March 19, in the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Mr. Oprea was born on Oct. 11, 1915, in Terre Haute, Ind. He retired in 1986 as the owner of Pete's College Foods grocery store in South Bend.

Mr. Oprea was a World War II Army veteran, was a member of the V.F.W., Turners of South Bend, and of the Grocer's Association where he had held office.

On Nov. 22, 1941, he married Marguerite Fedorchak, who survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Paula (Ollie, Jr.) Lindon of Monroe, Ohio; a son, Peter (Peggy) Oprea of South Bend; five grandchildren, Kimberly Johnson of South Bend, Sandra Oprea of Elkhart, Karen Roose of Monroe, Ohio, Michael Roose of Columbus, Ohio, and Brent Lindon of Middletown, Ohio; a sister, Anna Kish of Strongville, Ohio; a brother, John Oprea of Seattle, Wash.; several nieces and nephews; and by several sisters-in-law.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, with Rev. Joseph Jacobs officiating.
