Sister M. Marguerite O’Riordan CSC

Sister M. Marguerite CSC, of St. Mary’s College, a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1894, died in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend at 6:40 a.m. today. She was born Bridget O’Riordan in County Cork, Ireland in 1861, and was professed at St. Mary’s in 1894.  She spent much of her religious life in Salt Lake City, Utah; and Fresno, Calif., spending some years also in Indiana missions. She was one of four sisters to enter the Holy Cross order. One of them is still living, Mother M. Sicily CSC, who is now superior in the college and academy at St. Mary’s. The others were Sister M. Alacoque CSC, and Sister M. Margaretta CSC.

 

Funeral rites will take place Wednesday morning at St. Mary’s with burial in the community cemetery there.
