John F. Orisich

John F. "Yash" Orisich, 71, of the Cardinal-Meridian Nursing Center passed away after an extended illness at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the nursing center. Mr. Orisich was a retired independent flooring contractor. He was a United States Navy Korean Conflict veteran and was a member of American Legion Post 303. John was born on Oct. 2, 1930, in South Bend, Ind., to Frank and Mary Orisich.

He is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Bassett of Des Moines, Iowa, Susan Fox and Cynthia Orisich, both of South Bend; two sons, Dan Orisich and John Orisich Jr., both of South Bend; six grandchildren, Billy Bassett, Billy Fox, Mary Fox, Nicholas Orisich, Andrew John Orisich and Timothy John O'Connor; a great-grandchild, Julie Leann Bassett; his former wife, Julie Orisich of South Bend; two sisters, Freda Jurgonski and Matilda Kowalski, both of South Bend; and by two brothers, Frank Orisich and Joseph Orisich, both of South Bend.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 17, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
