Mary Olive Orosz

South Bend, IN — Mary (Ollie McGann) Orosz, 79, a longtime South Bend resident, passed away following a 15-year bout with Parkinson's disease at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, in the Cardinal Nursing Center.

 

Ollie was born on March 25, 1921, in Bremen, Ind., to the late Albert E. and Nelle (Speed) Tovey. She was married to Prof. Gerald C. Orosz, who passed away in 1978.

 

She was a former co-owner of the McGann Funeral Homes, and had worked many years for Drs. C.F. and Jack Wright, DDS. She was a member of the Service Guild, Ladies of the Elk's Lodge #235, The University Club, the Altrusa Club, and St. Joseph Parish. She loved to play bridge, golf, and fish at a cottage in Canada she shared with her husband.

 

She is survived by her three sons, Lewis A. McGann of Oviedo, Fla., Michael J. (Ann) McGann of Granger, Ind., and J. Patrick (Tessa) McGann of Granger; two stepchildren, Mary Ann (Jimmy) McKenna of Emerson, N.J., and Dr. Gerald (Barbara) Orosz of Irvine, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Lewis II, Ryan, Melissa, Erin, Michael, Kelly, Shawn, Bridget and Collin McGann; and by two step-grandchildren, Kelly and Ryan Orosz.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hill and LaSalle in South Bend.

 

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. today, Aug. 20, in the MCGANN FUNERAL HOMES, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road at Ironwood.

 

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
