Walter D. Ort

A resident of St. Joseph County all his life, Walter D. Ort, 91, of 542 Calhoun St., died at 7 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Hospital following a long illness.

 

He was born south of Mishawaka, Sept 11, 1874 and married Grace Eberhart here, Nov. 27, 1892. She died Nov. 13, 1946.

 

Mr. Ort was retired from Clark's Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co., in 1946.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eldone Borden, with whom he lived, and Mrs. Blanche E. Philion, of San Pierre, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Friends may call in the Bubb Funeral Chapel after 7 p.m. today and until the funeral services there at 3 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Wilbur Wilson, pastor of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church, will officiate.

 

Burial will be in City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Ort was a member of the First EUB Church.
