Sister M. Emelita O’Shaughnessy CSC, 87, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 12:50 a.m. today in the convent after a short illness. Born Brigid O’Shaughnessy on Feb. 22, 1883, in County Limerick, Ireland, she came to the United States in 1907, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross that same year. She made her final profession of vows in 1909 at St. Mary’s. She was a housekeeper and sacristan at the College and Academy of St. Mary’s of the Wastach in Salt Lake City. She is survived by a sister, Sister M. Cataldus CSC of Ventura, Calif.

 

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the convent. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both on the campus.
