Ida B. Owens

March 15, 1947 - Jan. 20, 2002

Mrs. Ida Bernice Owens, 54, beloved mother, grandmother and sister of Eckman Street, entered into eternal rest in her home on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002.

On March 15, 1947, Ida was born to the union of Homer and Mamie (Anderson) Jennings Sr. in Jefferson City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Mamie Jennings Sr.; brother, Jerry Jennings; and by a sister, Michelle Jennings.

As a young child, in 1952, she moved to South Bend, Ind., with her parents. Ida was a graduate of Washington High School, and worked as an inspector for 12 years at the E.W.I. Factory. She was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Lakisha Rodgers; sons, Lydell Rodgers and Louis Owens, all of South Bend; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Erma Odom of Atlanta, Ga., Helen Wingo, Gloria Jennings and Beatrice Jennings, all of South Bend; four brothers, James Jennings, Joseph Jennings, Homer Jennings Jr. and Ernest (Kathy) Jennings, all of South Bend; a special aunt, Bobbie Windmon-Carter; aunt, Reatha Powell; a special friend, Betty Gathwright; 51 nieces and nephews; with a host of many more aunts and uncles, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, in the New Hope Full Gospel Church, with Bishop-Designate Stephen Reed officiating. Friends may call one hour before the services in the church. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
