Claudius Hamilton Palmer

Claudius "Claude" Palmer, 83, of West 10th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, in his residence. Mr. Palmer was born on Aug. 4, 1917, in South Bend, Ind., as the son of the late William and Mary (Lane) Palmer.

 

On Dec. 18, 1941, in Mishawaka, he married the former Antoinette "Toni" De Paepe. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife Toni of 58 years; a sister, Dorothy Deadmond of South Bend; a brother, Jack Palmer of Mishawaka; five nieces and nephews; and by 12 great-nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Palmer was employed by Nipsco where he was an engineer for 22 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the F.O.E. #2083, and a member of VFW Post #360, Mishawaka. Mr. Palmer was a United States Air Force veteran, serving in World War II.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where wake prayers will be at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind. Contributions in memory of Mr. Palmer may be made to St. Bavo's Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
