SOUTH BEND - Irene Palmer, 87, of South Bend, IN passed
away at 4:15 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at her home. She was
born on September 24, 1921 in Toronto, Canada to Stephen and Emma
(Winterburn) Stables. On August 21, 1943 in
Indianapolis, IN she married Charles Carl Palmer who preceded her
in death December 22, 1992. Mrs. Palmer is survived by her son,
John M. Palmer of South Bend; her niece, Donna Davis of
Martinsville, IN; great nephews, Mark Moriarty and Mike
Moriarty both of Indianapolis; great niece, Angie Christiansen
of Cameron Park, CA; and her cousin, Mrs. Irene Culverwell
and her daughters, Vicki Culverwell and Joy Van Helvert
all of England. Her sister, Marjorie Smith preceded her in
death. Mrs. Palmer was a member of Eastern Star-Lakeville.
Cooking was her passion. Her many hobbies included golf, bowling,
gardening and listening to music.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 10, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Chaplain Joseph Emmerth will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 PM Sunday in the funeral hoe.
