South Bend Tribune 8/19/2003

Betty M. Paluzzi, 72, of Eastgate Circle, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer at 6:55 a.m. on Sunday morning, Aug. 17, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, with her granddaughter at her side.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in South Bend, Ind., to Ira Anthony William and Lois (Yeider) Cowen. Ira preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2001.

On Feb. 2, 1951, in South Bend, as Betty M. Cowen, she married Clifford James Paluzzi. Clifford also preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1979.

Betty was a caring and generous person. If she knew you needed something and was able to get it for you, she would do her best to do that. Always thinking of others needs before her own, she was concerned with others comfort even in her last hours. She loved to play bingo and go to the Blue Chip Casino. She loved animals and seemed able to communicate with them. Lovingly she adored her children, grandchildren and her parents. A fun-loving person, she was always ready for a good time. She was the most stylish grandmother from head to toe, and was often complimented on her beautiful hands and nails. She will be remembered as a beautiful person inside and out, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Betty graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend.

Betty is survived by her mother, Lois (Yeider) Cowen of South Bend; her daughter, Patti (Troy) Day of Mishawaka; her son, Curt J. Paluzzi of Granger, Ind.; three grandchildren, Chad Paluzzi, Michael and Martina Day, all of Mishawaka; and by one great-grandson, Tyler Paluzzi. Betty is also survived by her three sisters, Lila (James) Trump of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Judy (Gordon) Eddy of South Bend and Suzy (Jack) Mechling of Cleveland, Ohio; and by her brother, Douglas (Jan) Cowen of South Bend.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Fairview Cemetery, 1415 N. Main St., Mishawaka.
