Kathryn Patterson, 77, of River Avenue, South Bend, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2001, in Cardinal Nursing Center and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, following an illness. Mrs. Patterson was born April 20, 1924, in Ambia, Ind., to Robert M. and Samantha E. (Biggs) Clark and had lived in South Bend since 1939 coming from Lake Village, Ind.

On September 18, 1965 in Plymouth, Ind., she married William D. Patterson who preceded her in death on July 14, 1975. She is survived by one brother, Robert T. Clark of South Bend and many wonderful friend and neighbors who enriched her life and she theirs. Kathryn was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Circle of Mercy and Harvest House. She was a lover of animals and volunteered at Pet Refuge. She also volunteered at Faith, Hope, and Charity Chapel.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor St., with Rev. Leonard Chrobot, Ph.D. officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where a wake prayer service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Pet Refuge, 2300 W. Sixth St., Mishawaka, IN 46544 or St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor St., South Bend, IN 46601.
