NEW CARLISLE - Margie VanDeGenahte Paul, 85, passed away Monday, September 1st, in the Hamilton Grove Health Care Center, New Carlisle, IN. Her family had been with her during her long journey home and yet she gave THEM comfort and strength to continue on. Margie was born January 7, 1923, to Leo and Sylvia Adams of North Liberty, IN. Her parents preceded her in death as did her brothers, Albert, Gene and Gary Adams, and her sister, Leora Brugh. In 1947 Margie was married to Oscar VanDeGenahte, who also preceded her in death on July 30, 1985. In 1987 she married Bob Paul Sr. of South Bend. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on August 14, 2008. He survives along with two daughters, Carol McCann (Jim) and Kalyn Huntley (David); a brother, Rudy Adams (Gloria); stepdaughters, Yvonne Freel, Sherry Duty (Joe), Susan Clark (Larry), Dorothy Snyder (David) and Mary (Richard) Trazaskewski; stepsons, Bob Paul Jr. (Tina), Alan Paul (Pat) and Edward Paul (Judy); five grandchildren, Donald, Jennifer and Keith Barker, all of South Bend, Bob Paul III and Brian J. Paul of New Carlisle and Rolling Prairie respectively; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Barker, Brandon Mitchell, Mallery, Loren, Emily, Daniel and Rachel Paul; 21 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great-grandchildren. Her life touched so many people. She had worked for many years for REAL SERVICES of South Bend where she had enriched the lives of many senior citizens. She still leaves to cherish her memory many stepchildren and grandchildren from her marriage to Bob, as well as many friends and extended family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, and a woman of superior strength and faith. She has gone home.
