Maria Pecina

Maria Pecina, 83, formerly of Phillipa Street, South Bend passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, in the Milton Home. She was born on Dec. 3, 1920 in Poland to Albert and Josephine Szydlik who preceded her in death. Maria had lived in South Bend since 1951, coming from Germany.

 

On Sept. 26, 1946, Maria married Jan Pecina who passed away on Dec. 3, 1999. Two sons, Stanley and Vincent Pecina are deceased. Maria is survived by a daughter, Theresa (Michael) Mizanin of Lansing, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

 

She was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and the Polish Women's Alliance of America. Maria was a homemaker all of her life.

 

Visitation will be on Friday, March 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 13, at 10 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
