Louis Paul Pecsi

Louis Paul Pecsi, 76, of South Bend, Ind., died at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, at home.

 

He was born to John and Mary (Palfi) Pecsi on Aug. 11, 1921, in South Bend, and lived here all of his life. Louis married Susie Ulyhelji on Nov. 1, 1947.

 

He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps for two years and served in the U.S. Army for 39 months during World War II. While in the services he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars with a Bronzed Service Arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.

 

Louis worked for Studebaker for 23 years, and retired from the South Bend Community Corporation in 1982 as an engineer at Riley High School.

 

In addition to his wife Susie, Louis is survived by two daughters, Linda (Andy) Noetzel of South Bend and Diane (Gene) Lansdell of Hackettstown, N.J.; a son, Louis J. (Joni) of Amelia, Ohio; four grandchildren, Lisa and Jeremy Noetzel of South Bend and Justin and Ryan Lansdell of Hackettstown.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, where the Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Matthew's Cathedral, with Rev. Thomas Shoemaker officiating.

 

Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
