Joseph R. Pekarek

March 18, 1968 - Jan. 22, 1999

Joseph Raymond Pekarek, 30, of Granger, Ind., passed away on Friday, Jan. 22, in an airplane accident near Elkhart Airport.

Joseph was born on March 18, 1968, in Valparaiso, Ind., and had lived locally for four years. He was employed with Adorn, Inc. in Elkhart.

On Oct. 4, 1992, in Elkhart, he married Theresa Thomas, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Victoria and Cecilia, both at home; three sisters, Jeanette (Rich) Hollingsworth and Jamie Pekarek, both of Chicago, and Julie (Bret) Stasiak of Milwaukee, Wis.; his parents, Nancy and Ray Pekarek of Valparaiso, a paternal grandfather, Raymond C. Pekarek of Madison, Wis.; and mother and father-in-law, Barb and George Thomas of Elkhart.

Joseph was a 1986 graduate of Valparaiso High School, a 1990 graduate of Indiana University, and in 1992 received his masters in sports management from Indiana University. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and Little Flower parish.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in Little Flower Church, with Rev. Donald Guertin, C.S.C. officiating.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Church.
