Rev. George J. Pellegrin CSC, 78, died Thursday at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, following a lengthy illness. He served as assistant pastor at Holy Cross Parish. He was born Nov. 28, 1905 in Merrill, Wis. and entered the novitiate of the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1922; professed his vows in 1923; and was ordained to the priesthood in 1929. He was fist assigned to the overseas mission in East Bengal, India (now Bangladesh) for seven years. After returning to the U.S he worked for 11 years as a fund raiser for the foreign missions. He served in several parishes in Wisconsin, Louisana, Texas and in South Bend for many years. He was most recently assigned to the Texas State School for Boys and retired two years ago to Holy Cross House.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Moreau Seminary at Notre Dame with burial in the Community Cemetery. Friends may call fro 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Moreau Seminary where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.
