SOUTH BEND - Cecil "Commodore" D. Perry, 94, passed away on Saturday, March 22 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Cecil was born on January 11, 1914, in Lakeville, IN to Donald and Amanda (Snyder) Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean Mahoney.

 

On October 25, 1947, in Mishawaka, he was joined in marriage to the former Lillian L. Guidi. Surviving are his loving wife of over 60 years, Lillian; two sons, Daniel (Sara) Perry of Mishawaka, Gordon "Mik" Perry of South Bend; three grandchildren, Spencer Michael Wayne Perry, Jodie (Kenny) Perry Russell and Julia (Ross) Perry Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Connor and Madison Russell and Keirstin and Brady Smith. Cecil worked on the Mail Train for the United States Postal Service. He was a Veteran of the United States Marines, serving his country during World War II, was an avid model builder, world traveler, and was a member of St. Joseph Valley Rail Road Club.

 

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, March 26 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 27 in the funeral home. Dennis Teigland, Chaplain at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka with Military Rites by VFW Burial Team. Memorial contributions may be made in Cecil's name to Pet Refuge, Inc., 2300 W. 6th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544, Humane Society of St. Joseph County Indiana Inc., 2506 Grape Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
