MISHAWAKA - Richard H. Peters, 75, of Panama Street, Mishawaka, IN, passed away July 14, 2008. Mr. Peters was born March 3, 1933, in South Bend, IN, and was the son of Haines and Florence (Syson) Peters. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. Corporal Peters received an honorable discharge in April of 1955. A Riley High School graduate and a lifelong resident of South Bend, Mr. Peters was in sales most of his life, having been employed by United Airlines, ITT and Quality Oil Co. of Valparaiso. Survivors include a son, Jeffrey T. Peters of South Bend, IN; a daughter, Michelle M. and David Hamil of Valparaiso, IN; six beautiful and beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Julianne, Ryan, Cameron, Brandon and Trevor; two nieces, Jean Marie Rapp of Tega Cay, SC, and Linda Peters of South Bend, IN; and a nephew, Jack Peters of South Bend, IN. Preceding Mr. Peters in death were his eldest son, Steven M. Peters, who died in 1998; a brother, Jack Dean, who died in 1979; and a sister, Beverly Likes, who died in 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 18, 2008, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Andre Leveille, C.S.C., officiating. Private burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, IN, at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
