Edwin Pherson

August 13, 1898 – May 26, 1971

 

Edwin Pherson, 72, of 3816 Addison St., died at 2:35am today in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad, where he was a yard master.

 

Born August 13, 1898, in Monticello IN, he had lived here 40 years, coming from Logansport.  On December 10, 1922, in Logansport, he married Frances Fitzer, who survives, along with two sons, Eddie J. of Massery OH and Richard of Louisville KY; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne Barden of Elkhart; six grandchildren; two brother, Clarence of Monticello and Ivan of Atlanta GA, and three sisters, Mrs. Mable Hughes, Mrs. Laura Hughes and Mrs Verna Custer, all of Monticello..

 

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in Bilancio-Guisinger Colonial Chapel where services will be held at 2pm Friday, Rev. George Harris, pastor of the South Side Christian Church, of which Mr. Pherson was a member, officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Mausoleum. 

 

Mr. Pherson was a member of Post 50, American Legion, the Railroad Brotherhood, and was a veteran of WW I, serving with the US Navy.
