EX-RESIDENT

 

Richard J. Philion
Dies on Visit
With Mother

 

Richard J. Philion, 41, of Madison Heights, Mich., a former resident of Mishawaka, died unexpectedly at 2 a.m. today in the home of his mother, Mrs. Blanche Philion, 2410 Woodmont Ave., South Bend, also a former resident.

 

Mr. Philion arrived from Detroit early Friday night to visit his mother for a few days.  He became ill shortly after his arrival and died a short time later.  An attending physician said death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.

 

Mr. Philion was born in Mishawaka, and on Aug. 31, 1941, he married Miss Cleo Krumanaker in this city.  He was a special representative of the United States Rubber Co. to the General Motors Corp.  He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Air Force from 1941 to 1945.  He moved to his present home in 1954.

 

Surviving other than his mother are his widow and two daughters, Christine and Debra Philion, at home.  He was a member of St. Dennis Parish, Royal Oak, Mich.  Friends may call in the Bent & Sprague Chapel after 7 p.m. Sunday.

PHILION - Funeral services for Richard J. Philion, 41, of Madison Heights, Mich., who died early Saturday in the home of his mother, Mrs. Blanche Philion, 2410 Woodmont Ave., South Bend, will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Cross Church, South Bend.  Rev. George Welsh, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.  The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Bent & Sprague Chapel where friends may call after 7 p.m. today and until the funeral hour.

 

Pallbearers will be Robert Knarr, of Royal Oak, Mich., Forest Palmer, Paul Holland and Emery Szabo, of South Bend, Edward Nagle of Birmingham, Mich., and Edward Wilkinson, of St. Clair Shores, Mich.
