Betty L. Phillips, 69, of East
Indiana Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 10 a.m. on Tuesday,
Aug. 25, in her residence. She was born on Aug. 10, 1929, in
Lima, Ohio.
As Betty L. Hunter she married Robert
V. Phillips, Sr., who died on May 26, 1984. She was also preceded
in death by a son, Robert V. Phillips, Jr., on June 26, 1993.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Pamela K. Kurlancki
of Marcellus, Mich., Brenda Brown of Granger, Ind., and
Carrie Lynn Makielski of Lexington, Ala.; three sons,
Dennis, Bryan and Danny Phillips, all of South Bend; a
daughter-in-law, Sherry Phillips of Lakeville, Ind.; 21
grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Ray of
South Bend; and by a brother, Chet Hunter of South Bend.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug.
28, in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood, with Rev.
Stephen Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Highland
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today
in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Heart Association.
