Elwin Phillips

October 19, 1909January 30, 1993

 

Memorial services for Elwin Phillips, 83, of Thornhill Drive, who died at 3am Saturday in his home, will beat 1pm Sunday in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Hospice.

 

Mr. Phillips retired in 1974 as a glass cutter.  He was born October 19, 1909, in Ithaca NY, coming to South Bend in 1987 form Eustis FL.  On April 30, 1954, in Muncie IN, he married Aleena M. Dixon.  She died April 20, 1992.  Surviving are two daughters, Marion Bolechowsky of Barrie, Ontario, and Betty Jane Nelson of Tigard OR; two sons, Cleo R Nelson of Fort Wayne and Robert E. Nelson of South Bend; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Williams of Kokomo.  He was an Army veteran of WW II and a member of Moose Lodge 58 and Masonic Lodge, Sturgis.
