Larry Phillips

March 22, 1951 - Aug. 31, 2002

Mr. Larry Phillips, 51, beloved father, brother and grandfather, who resided on North Wel-lington Street, South Bend, Ind., departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Cardinal Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.

On March 22, 1951, in South Bend, he was born to Reba (Taylor) and Wiley Phillips Sr., who both preceded him in death. Larry was a lifetime resident of South Bend. He worked six years as a material handler for Allied Products.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Shalena Jackson, Laresha Phillips and Tracy Young; two sons, Dale Young and Isaiah Griffin; stepmother, Joann Phillips; stepfather, William Thompson Sr. of Chicago, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Cheryl Phillips; four brothers, Michael (Phyllis) Phillips Sr., Terrance Phillips and Kenneth Thompson, all of South Bend, William Thompson Jr. of Peoria, Ill.; six stepsisters, Betina Harris, Sandra Johnson, Jacelyn Phillips, Nancy Anderson, Patricia (Michael) Henderson and Kimberly Phillips; five stepbrothers, Michael Johnson, Brian Phillips, James Phillips, Jerome Phillips and Wiley Phillips III; one foster brother, Michael Beasley, all of South Bend; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Clark and Ronald Jones, both of Houston, Texas; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Reba and Wiley Phillips Sr.; two sisters, Regina Phillips Clark and Thomasena Thompson Jones; one stepbrother, Dale Smith; grandparents, Lula and Kenneth Taylor, Alice and Wiley Phillips Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Phillips will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 4, in Alford's Mortuary. Visitation will occur from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. today, Sept. 4, in the chapel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
