Ethel Pica

Ethel Pica, 93, formerly of Huron Street, South Bend, Ind., and Hamilton Community, THE Pointe, New Carlisle, Ind., died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 10, 1908, in Chicago , Ill., and had lived here since 1939, coming from Benton Harbor, Mich. Mrs. Pica was a homemaker and mother. On May 2, 1928, in Chicago, as Ethel Wilk, she married Peter A. Pica, who preceded her in death in 1966. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Aniela (Biala) Wilk; a brother, Edward Wilk; and by a sister, Lillian Kajune.

Mrs. Pica is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Brent) Banulis of Boston, Mass., and Jacqueline (Walter) Schimmel of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sons, Tony (Jane) Pica and Peter (Bonnie) Pica, both of South Bend; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Helen Mierkiewicz of Chicago.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Family Catholic Church, where friends called from 10 a.m. until time of service in the church. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery.
