Mary Sylvia Pighi

Mishawaka  - Mary S. Pighi, 84, of East 4th Street, Mishawaka, Ind. passed away after a brief illness at 9:01 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, in St. Joseph Community Hospital.

 

Mary was a lifelong Mishawaka resident, born on Nov. 7, 1913 to Melvin and Anna (Jones) Dunning.

 

On Aug. 29, 1936, in St. Monica Church, Mary married John P. Pighi, who survives.

 

She is also survived by two daughters, Jonette (James) Duvall of Mishawaka and Rosemary (Roger) Cox of Granger, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Angelea Auer of Traverse Cicy, Mich., Andrew, John and Amy Duvall of Mishawaka, Jeannie Fretz of Glen Carbon, Ill., Alyssa Moehle of Boston, Mass., Cristina Bell of Atlanta of Atlanta, Ga. And Elizaberth Moehle of Granger; seven great-grandchildren; a sister Lois Stutsman of Springfield, Ohio; and by two brothers, Howard Dunning of South Bend, and Cecil Dunning os San Carlos, Calif.

 

Mary retired for Burcliff Industries in 1976. Prior to that she was employed by the former Dariette near Mishawaka High School until 1966. She was a  member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, and the church’s Rosary Society and TOPS.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 3 p.m.

 

A funerla mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola
