Marion R. Pilarski

Oct. 13, 1928 - May 12, 2002

Marion R. Pilarski, 73, residing on Riley Road, North Liberty, IN, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, in his home of natural causes. He was born October 13, 1928, in South Bend, and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He graduated in 1956 from Indiana University and in 1962 from the University of Notre Dame. He taught Art for 34 years with the South Bend Community School Corp. He also taught Graduate Art at the University of Notre Dame, and Undergraduate Art at St. Mary's College. He also taught at Indiana University of South Bend and at the South Bend Art Club. He exhibited his own paintings on the Regional level and in New York City. He also exhibited in One-Man Shows, and in combined Gallery Shows. He trained many college students in Teaching Training. Marion had many art teaching methods, published in National Magazines and was an Art textbook reviewer-consultant for many publishers.

He is survived by his daughter, Gail (Paul) Mattix of North Liberty; a son, Brian Pilarski of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Christian, Justin and Amanda Mattix. Also surviving are his three sisters, Agnes, Diane and Helen.

There will be no services and no visitation. Cremation will take place. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Pilarski may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 North Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, is handling arrangements for the Pilarski Family.
